Welcome to Oy Vey Rosé
Let's clear something up right away. A rabbi did not wave a magic wand over your wine. I've looked into it thoroughly. There is no wand.
If "kosher wine" still brings back that thick purple syrup from your childhood Seder, the one that tasted like grape jelly with ambition, you're in good company. You're also in the right place.
I'm Anne Gershkowitz. I passed WSET Level 3, the advanced exam wine professionals take, with Merit, and I'm now a WSET Diploma candidate. That means I have spent an unreasonable number of hours spitting excellent wine into a bucket in the name of education. I can tell you why a wine tastes the way it does, where it came from, and what it wants for dinner. I will never make you feel silly for asking. Snobs are politely asked to wait outside.

Why Wine Matters in Jewish Life
Judaism figured out long before sommeliers did that wine is how you mark a moment. We bless it every Friday night to welcome Shabbat. We drink four cups at the Seder, which is a generous amount of wine for a story about leaving in a hurry. We raise a glass under the chuppah, on Purim, and in a sukkah that is almost certainly leaning slightly to the left. Wine turns an ordinary evening into something holy. My job is to make sure it also tastes wonderful.
What You'll Find Here
- The Myths, Busted. What Mevushal really means (no, nobody is boiling your Cabernet), why a screwcap signals intelligence rather than thrift, and the kosher rules explained the way a friend would, not a textbook.
- Recipes and Holiday Guides. Quick weeknight dinners, 20-minute Challah dips, my Moroccan Gefilte Fish, and survival guides for Passover, Rosh Hashanah, Purim, and Sukkot. Survival is the operative word.
- Pairings That Work. Exactly which bottle to open for Shabbat chicken or holiday brisket, and why, so you can explain it at the table as if you always knew.
Tradition and world-class wine have always belonged on the same table. I'm just here to set it properly. Pour something good and stay a while. L'chaim!
